Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez

studied Sociology, Political Sciences and Romance Studies (Francophone and Latin American Studies) at the University of Frankfurt, Germany, Université Lumière II, Lyon and Quito, Ecuador. She is Senior Lecturer in Transcultural Studies in the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures at the University of Manchester. Her research is concerned with questions of the local face of global inequalities, queer-feminist decolonial epistemology and critical intersectional approaches to migration and diaspora studies. She has recently published Migration, Domestic Work and Affect (2010) and co-edited with Manuela Boatca and Sérgio Costa, Decolonizing European Sociology (2010). At the moment she is working with colleagues on 'diasporic cosmopolitanism'.
