Margareta Kern
is a visual artist and lecturer in photography at Falmouth University, based in London and Cornwall. She is originally from Bosnia-Herzegovina. Working at the intersection of moving image and documentary, her research-led practice explores the relationship between aesthetics and politics, making visible contestations and contradictions involved in its interplay. Kern often collaborates with other artists and works within collectives developing strategies of engagement that challenge the dominant neo-liberal consensus.
Kern holds a BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College and an MA in Visual Anthropology from UCL. Her work has been presented across international galleries and educational contexts, including the Tate Modern, The Photographers Gallery (London), Whitechapel Gallery (London), Spacex (Exeter), SC Gallery (Zagreb), Gallery Nova (Zagreb), Impressions Gallery (Bradford), INIVA (London), Shedhalle (Zurich), Photomonth Krakow, Muscarnok (Budapest), 54th October Salon (Belgrade), and many others.
She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of the Arts London.
